2024 – Peter L. Ostermiller
Peter L. Ostermiller has been in the private practice of law in Louisville, Ky since 1980. He has been a solo practitioner for the last 30 years. For the last 38 years, his practice has concentrated in legal ethics and professional responsibility matters. For his first 10 years of practice, he maintained a broad civil practice with an ever-increasing emphasis on legal ethics and professional responsibility representation. He has represented attorneys in disciplinary and reinstatement proceedings, Judges in judicial ethics matters, and bar exam applicants. He has also represented parties in attorney fee dispute cases and in attorney disqualification proceedings. He also has counseled lawyers and law firms in their respective rights, responsibilities and duties to other attorneys, the courts, their clients and others. He has been an expert witness in legal ethics/legal malpractice cases. He has served on the Kentucky Bar Association Ethics 2000 Committee regarding Rules of Professional Conduct (2003-2006), the Kentucky Supreme Court Task Force on Kentucky Attorney Disciplinary Procedure Rules (1999-2000) and the Kentucky Supreme Court ABA Disciplinary Report Task Force (2023-2024). He is a member of the Kentucky Bar Association, the Louisville Bar Association, and the Association of Professional Responsibility Lawyers. He has been married to Kathy Ostermiller for 47 years, and their one child, Beth Whitsel, is married, has one child, and lives and works in Baltimore, Maryland.
